Ajit Pawar Holds Review Meeting in Pune; Drug Smuggler Lalit Patil Remains at Large

Lalit Patil, Drug Smuggler, Still on the Run as Pune Reviews Security

Pune| October 13,2023: – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, now serving as the Guardian Minister for Pune, convened an early morning review meeting to address critical issues facing the city and district. This session, primarily focused on the ongoing drug problem, has sent shockwaves through the state. The situation escalated when Lalit Patil, a notorious drug smuggler, absconded from Sassoon Hospital, casting doubts on the efficiency of both the hospital’s administration and the police.

Ajit Pawar’s prompt response to this alarming situation is evident in his immediate call to Sassoon Hospital’s Dean, Dr. Sanjeev Thakur. The decision to summon Dr. Thakur to the meeting reflects the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action. As the drug issue continues to grip the state’s attention and the recent revelation of registered criminals taking shelter in the guise of medical treatment in Ward No. 16 has sparked outrage, many are now looking to Ajit Pawar for answers and possible actions.

The big question on everyone’s mind is whether Ajit Pawar will take decisive steps to rectify the situation after gathering information about what transpired at Sassoon Hospital. The city and the state eagerly await his response, and his stance on the accountability of those involved.

Lalit Patil, the elusive drug smuggler, has managed to evade capture for ten days now, raising concerns about the police’s efficiency and effectiveness. Despite extensive efforts to track him down, the police have been unsuccessful in apprehending Patil. The Pune Sessions Court’s reprimand of the police highlights the gravity of the situation. As the public remains in the dark about Patil’s whereabouts, speculation arises about whether he managed to escape from the clutches of the law enforcement agencies.

To address this growing mystery, Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar has called for a high-level meeting to shed light on Lalit Patil’s status and the efforts to locate him.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s assumption of the role of Guardian Minister for Pune marks a new chapter in the city’s governance. Commencing his duties at 7 a.m., the dedicated public servant, along with his team of officers, has wasted no time. Following the conclusion of the Pune District Central Cooperative Bank meeting, the Pune District Review Meeting was initiated. Key figures including the Dean of Sassoon Hospital, Dr. Sanjeev Thakur, Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar, and prominent city officials attended the session. As Ajit Pawar takes charge as the Guardian Minister of Pune, the city anticipates potential changes and initiatives under his leadership.

In a separate development, Reshma Bhosle, wife of former NCP MLA Anil Bhosle, was denied a meeting with Ajit Pawar during her visit to Pune’s Circuit House. The Bhosles are embroiled in the Shivajirao Bhosale Cooperative Bank scam in Pune, with Reshma Bhosle’s political journey taking an unexpected turn as she aligned herself with the BJP in the 2017 municipal elections. Tensions between Ajit Pawar and the Bhosle family had been simmering since that time. In 2019, following the formation of the Mahavikas Aghadi government, Anil Bhosle was arrested in connection with the bank scam, while Reshma Bhosle secured bail.

Notably, Anil Bhosle’s health prompted his admission to Sassoon Hospital. Following Lalit Patil’s escape from Ward No. 16 at Sassoon Hospital, numerous inmates, including former MLA Anil Bhosle, were relocated to Yerawada Jail. This development raised speculation about the purpose of Reshma Bhosle’s visit to meet Ajit Pawar. However, the Deputy Chief Minister chose to decline her request for a meeting, leaving the nature of their future interactions uncertain.
