Uddhav Thackeray Reflects on Alliance Choices Amidst Party Changes

Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray addresses loyalists' departure and his stance on alliances, while former MP Bhausaheb Vakchoure joins the party, altering Lok Sabha election dynamics.

Mumbai, August 24, 2023: Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena, expressed his thoughts on past alliance decisions in a recent gathering of former corporators and office bearers. Addressing the room, Thackeray contemplated the possibility of reconciling with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing his concern about dealing with those who betrayed their commitment since 2014.

Reflecting on his tenure as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister during that period, Thackeray acknowledged the challenge of managing supportive MLAs while also accommodating those disenchanted with the party. “What did I not do for them?” he lamented, highlighting his disappointment with the departure of longtime loyalists.

This isn’t the first time the Thackeray family’s alliance stance has garnered attention. Historical aversions to certain alliances, like Shiv Sena-MNS, stem from Thackeray’s dedication to preserving the sentiments of party workers who’ve toiled for its success.

On a different note, the Shiv Sena received a notable boost as former Shirdi MP Bhausaheb Vakchoure officially joined the party at Matoshree’s residence, accompanied by Uddhav Thackeray himself. This strategic move holds the potential to reshape the political landscape for the Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency and potentially position Vakchoure as the Thackeray group’s contender in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Vakchoure’s political journey has seen several twists. After contesting and winning the Shirdi Lok Sabha seat in 2009 under the Shiv Sena banner, he shifted to the Congress camp during the 2014 elections, only to face defeat in the Modi wave. Later, he aligned with the BJP. Now, with his entrance into the Thackeray group, speculation arises around his candidacy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The dynamics of the Shirdi Lok Sabha race have gained substantial attention. Currently represented by Sadashiv Lokhande within the group of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the constituency is also under the scrutiny of Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale, adding to the potential for a spirited contest.

As political realignments and strategic decisions continue to shape the landscape, Uddhav Thackeray’s reflections on past alliances and Vakchoure’s shift to Shiv Sena underscore the intricate dance of power and strategy in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
