Thackeray Group Presents Evidence of 23 Signatures to Remove Eknath Shinde

Will the Disqualification Case Further Intensify for Shinde Group?

December 09, 2023: In a significant development in the ongoing Shiv Sena MLA Disqualification Case, the Thackeray group made a compelling address during the cross-examination of Shinde group MLA Dilip Lande. The hearing, scheduled for two sessions today, focused on the attendant sheet from a meeting held on June 21, 2022, at Varsha Bungalow.

Thackeray group’s lawyer, Devdutt Kamat, presented the attendance sheet containing the signatures of 23 MLAs from the Shinde group. Notably, this meeting witnessed a proposal to oust Eknath Shinde from the group leader position, a proposition that received approval from the attending MLAs.

During the cross-examination, the Thackeray group posed a recurring question about the number of MLAs present at the June 21 meeting. The group showcased the attendant sheet filed in the affidavit, revealing that 23 MLAs were in attendance, following instructions from Sunil Prabhu to issue a whip.

The Thackeray group, aiming to strengthen its case, seeks confirmation from the Shinde group on the authenticity of the signatures on the attendance sheet. The list includes prominent names like Gulabrao Patil, Sanjay Rathod, Santosh Bangar, Dada Bhuse, Dilip Lande, Mangesh Kudalkar, Sada Saravankar, Yogesh Kadam, Uday Samant, and Deepak Kesarkar, all current members of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction.

These signatures endorse the proposal to remove Eknath Shinde as the group leader, a decision that may play a pivotal role in the ongoing legal battle. However, during the testimony, Dilip Lande acknowledged his signature on the sheet but claimed that the party order number written above it was added post-signature.

As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Thackeray group’s presented evidence will impact the proceedings and if it will lead to further complications for the Shinde group in the disqualification case. The intricacies of the cross-examination and responses from the Shinde group will likely shape the trajectory of this political dispute.
