Supriya Sule’s Potential Move to Contest Election in Wardha Sparks Discussion

A statement by Supriya Sule leads to speculation about her candidacy in Wardha.

Wardha | October 03, 2023: Supriya Sule, the incumbent Member of Parliament in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, which has long been a stronghold of the Pawar family led by Sharad Pawar, might be facing a formidable challenge in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Baramati. Recent political changes have fueled speculations that Supriya Sule may opt to contest the elections from Vidarbha, a region in Maharashtra.

The catalyst for this discussion has been a statement made by Supriya Sule herself. During her visit to Wardha, a historic district with a rich legacy associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave, she expressed her inclination to contest elections in this sacred land. Sule interacted with local journalists and conveyed her thoughts on the matter.

Sule stated, “Wardha is a very holy district, sanctified by the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave. If given the opportunity to serve in this sacred land, I would wholeheartedly embrace it.” However, she also emphasized that the final decision on her candidacy in Wardha would rest with her party.

Presently, the Wardha Constituency is represented by Ramdas Tadas of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Nonetheless, there is ongoing speculation within political circles that the BJP is contemplating the nomination of Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the state president of the BJP, as their candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Wardha. The clarity on the candidate selection is expected to emerge in due course.

When asked about Supriya Sule’s statement, NCP MLA Rohit Pawar responded, “I have no information regarding Supriya Tai’s statement regarding the Wardha Lok Sabha elections.” The unfolding political developments in Wardha remain a subject of keen interest, with the electorate awaiting further announcements from the political parties involved.
