Shiv Sena Office-Bearers Express Dissent Over Leadership Approaches

Mumbai | 09-Aug-23: In an unprecedented turn of events, office-bearers from the Shiv Sena party have taken a stand against their own leadership, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s functioning. This development comes after a year of significant political realignments within the party.

Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena has been witnessing an influx of office-bearers from various political affiliations over the past year. However, a group of office-bearers from Kandivali, Charkop, and Malad areas has now come forth to express their grievances. They have communicated their intention to resign collectively, expressing frustration with the working style of Shiv Sena Secretary Siddesh Kadam.

The roots of this turmoil can be traced back to the splintering of the Shiv Sena nearly a year ago. Throughout this period, a notable number of councilors and officials from Uddhav Thackeray’s faction have joined the ranks of Eknath Shinde’s faction. Amidst this ongoing reshuffling, the discontented office-bearers from Kandivali, Charkop, and Malad have made their voices heard.

Their grievances are aimed particularly at senior Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam and their son MLA Siddesh. The dissatisfied office-bearers have alleged that they are being impeded from carrying out their duties effectively within the party. Interestingly, this group of complainants comprises around 30 to 40 members who have united under the banner of change. Their collective voice echoes, “We stand with you, but it’s imperative to comprehend Kadam’s actions.”

Vikas Gupta, the Shiv Sena Division Chief of Kandivali East Assembly Constituency, declared, “Siddesh Kadam’s consistent interference and mistreatment of office-bearers and workers in our assembly constituency over the last few months have led us to this decision of resigning.”

Nagesh Apte, the Malad assembly organizer, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Having dedicated myself to the party’s cause in Malad from the very beginning, I’m now disheartened by the arbitrary removal of officials from their posts without valid reasons. This trend has left office-bearers disconcerted. As a result, we are slated to meet with Eknath Shinde and officially tender our resignations.”

Sanjay Sawant, Chief of Charkop Assembly Constituency, articulated the collective sentiment of senior office-bearers from Kandivali and Charkop, saying, “In light of Siddesh Kadam’s undue interference and the emergence of factionalism, the senior office-bearers from our constituencies are in unison regarding the decision to resign. Following our meeting with Eknath Shinde, we will provide a comprehensive overview of the ongoing factional disputes within the party.”

As the Shiv Sena navigates this internal dissent, all eyes are now fixed on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s response to these concerns raised by dedicated office-bearers who have chosen to stand up for what they believe is best for the party’s future.
