Rohit Sharma to Lead as Team India Squad for T20 World Cup Unveiled

Team India's Squad Announced for T20 World Cup 2024

April 30, 2024: In anticipation of the upcoming T20 World Cup amidst the fervor of the IPL season, the Indian cricket team’s lineup for the tournament has been unveiled. Leading the squad will be none other than Rohit Sharma, with Hardik Pandya serving as the vice-captain. However, the absence of KL Rahul from the World Cup squad has raised a few eyebrows. Notably, the inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal and Rishabh Pant brings fresh energy to the team. Among the 19 players considered, 15 will head to America for the World Cup, while 4 players have been designated as reserves.

After a hiatus of 14 months, Rishabh Pant makes a resounding comeback to Team India. Sanju Samson, whose IPL performance caught the eye, secures a spot among the 15 players. Joining Rohit Sharma at the opening position will be Yashasvi Jaiswal. Besides Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey might find himself in the playing eleven, fortifying the middle order. The team’s strength lies in the versatile prowess of all-rounders like Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Akshar Patel.

In the bowling department, the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will play a crucial role, complemented by the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Siraj. Notably, Shubman Gill, Khalil Ahmed, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh stand as reserves, ready to step in if needed.

  • June 5, Wednesday: India vs Ireland, New York.
  • June 9, Sunday: India vs Pakistan, New York.
  • June 12, Wednesday: USA vs India, New York.
  • June 15, Saturday: India vs Canada, Florida.
