March 18, 2024: In a recent statement, Ramdas Athawale, a prominent figure in Indian politics, voiced concerns over the alleged sidelining of underprivileged communities within the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition. The coalition, comprising various political entities, has faced criticism from leaders of the Republican Party of India (RPI) for its treatment of marginalized groups.
Athawale accused the Mahavikas Aghadi of attempting to marginalize the underprivileged, despite their willingness to align with the coalition. He emphasized the importance of ensuring honorable representation for these communities, stating that they should not be subject to insult within the coalition’s ranks. Expressing skepticism about the prospects of underprivileged groups within the Mahavikas Aghadi, Athawale cautioned against joining if their dignity is compromised.
Asserting his commitment to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Athawale highlighted his loyalty despite the absence of his party’s representation in the cabinet. He reaffirmed his steadfast support, emphasizing his reluctance to abandon the alliance.
Furthermore, Athawale expressed gratitude towards Rahul Gandhi for his visit to Chaityabhoomi, a significant location for the Dalit community. Reflecting on historical parallels, he noted that large gatherings, reminiscent of those held by Balasaheb Thackeray, may not necessarily translate into electoral success.
