Maratha Reservation Leader, Manoj Jarange Patil, Receives Backing from Chhagan Bhujbal

Chhagan Bhujbal Supports Jarange's Unique Demand for Maratha Reservation

Mumbai | December 22, 2023: In a surprising turn of events, the leader of the Maratha reservation struggle, Manoj Jarange Patil, has garnered support from Chhagan Bhujbal for his demand to extend reservation benefits to his relatives. Patil contends that former justices Gaikwad and Shukre provided written assurances during the cessation of his hunger strike, emphasizing the need for OBC certificates for the children of mothers classified as OBC.

Jarange’s plea, however, faces legal challenges, with experts asserting that it falls outside the established legal framework. Despite a delegation, including Minister Girish Mahajan, Uday Samant, and Sandipan Bhumare, visiting Antarwali Sarati to negotiate with Patil, he remains steadfast in his stance.

Chhagan Bhujbal, responding to the unfolding scenario, made ironic remarks about Jarange’s demands during a press conference. He challenged the government to accept all of Jarange’s demands, expressing his willingness to retract previous statements and pledge support in upcoming meetings.

Addressing reporters, Bhujbal outlined Jarange’s proposals: “Their demands are logical and adhere to rules. The government should say yes immediately. Even God is afraid of them, so what about the government? Let the law be in the place of the law. Basically, those are not delusional ideas. Everything should be accepted by Jarange.”

Bhujbal praised Jarange’s innovative ideas, suggesting the establishment of ministers’ accommodations and the Chief Secretary’s office in Marathwada to streamline governance. He urged the government to embrace change and not fear unnecessary Supreme Court intervention.

In a surprising twist, Bhujbal announced his intention to make speeches in favor of Jarange in future gatherings, asserting, “Jarangs have not besieged the government, but the government has besieged the Jarangs.” Bhujbal even proposed involving the Jarangs in the disqualification hearing of MLAs.

As the debate over Maratha reservation intensifies, the government faces increasing pressure to address the unique demands put forth by Manoj Jarange Patil and navigate the delicate balance between legal constraints and public sentiment.
