Eknath Khadse Calls for Swift Action on Maratha Reservation and Demands Fair Prices for Cotton

NCP MLA Sanjay Raut Urged to Release Bawankule's Video, Criticized for Viral Photo in Crisis Time

Jalgaon | November 21, 2023: In a recent development, Eknath Khadse, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, has called upon the state government to promptly address the issue of Maratha reservation. Khadse criticized the government’s delay in making a decision, stating that the initial deadline for the reservation was extended, raising expectations within the Maratha community. He urged the government to take a cue from Bihar and provide a 16 percent reservation within the legal framework. Khadse emphasized that keeping the Maratha community in suspense and revisiting the matter repeatedly is not politically prudent.

Addressing another matter, Khadse highlighted the administrative nature of the transfer of the Superintendent of Police in Jalna, downplaying its significance in the broader context. However, he expressed concern about the ongoing crisis faced by cotton farmers in the state. The sharp decline in cotton prices, from twelve thousand rupees per quintal last year to the current rate of seven thousand rupees, has led to a dire situation. Unable to afford the new prices, farmers have withheld their supply, causing 80 percent of mills to shut down.

Khadse underscored the severity of the issue, asserting that the government’s negligence is exacerbating the problem. He called for immediate action, demanding that the government either set the cotton price at Rs 12,000 per quintal or provide a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per quintal. Khadse criticized the government’s insensitivity to the plight of farmers, stating that the current pricing system is akin to making a mockery of their hardships.

Shifting focus to political tensions, Khadse addressed the controversy surrounding a viral photo of Chandrashekhar Bawankule in a casino, allegedly released by Sanjay Raut. Khadse urged Raut to present any videos he possesses, emphasizing that during a crisis in Maharashtra, party leaders should refrain from engaging in such activities. He called for transparency, asserting that the truth should be revealed to the public.
