Canada Shares Evidence with India Over Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s Murder, Claims Involvement of Indian Agents

Ottawa | September 23, 2023 : In the ongoing India-Canada dispute, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again stirred the pot by asserting that Canada possesses compelling evidence linked to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which transpired a few weeks ago. This evidence, according to Trudeau, suggests the involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s tragic demise.

At a press conference held on Friday, Trudeau confidently stated, “Canada has shared evidence of the credible allegations I talked about on Monday. We did that several weeks ago. We hope that India will work with us, so that we can get to the bottom of this serious matter.”

This statement comes after Trudeau’s earlier declaration on Monday, wherein he claimed that Canada’s intelligence indicated the potential involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who met his untimely end in June. India had promptly refuted these allegations at the time. Additionally, reports have emerged suggesting that the Canadian government conducted a thorough investigation, collecting both human and signal intelligence. According to these reports, there is substantial evidence pertaining to the communication of Indian officials currently stationed in Canada. This information was reportedly obtained through the Five Eyes organization, an intelligence-sharing network comprising the US, Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The specifics of the evidence gathered by Canadian agencies remain undisclosed by Justin Trudeau, leaving room for speculation about the nature and extent of their findings. Notably, the situation has prompted the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to express concern during a press conference. The White House has echoed similar sentiments regarding the allegations made by Prime Minister Trudeau.

Furthermore, a separate report has revealed that during his visit to the G-20 summit, US President Joe Biden had personally expressed his concerns over this matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to this report, the Canadian Prime Minister had directly implored Modi to intervene in the ongoing dispute.

The sharing of this evidence adds yet another layer of complexity to the already strained relations between India and Canada, leaving both nations at a critical juncture where diplomatic efforts will play a pivotal role in resolving this serious matter.
