Cabinet Expansion in Maharashtra’s Grand Coalition Government Sparks Excitement

BJP Likely to Secure Majority of Ministerial Posts

October 14, 2023 – Mumbai: In a late-night meeting at Varsha Bungalow, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis discussed the upcoming cabinet expansion, as reported by reliable sources. Sama TV has received information that suggests a sense of excitement among the prospective ministers following this meeting.

Among the pro-Shinde-BJP-Pawar MLAs, a strong belief persists that the cabinet will predominantly accommodate their party’s members. Some MLAs have already issued directives to their supporters to prepare for ministerial roles. According to informed sources, the cabinet expansion of the grand coalition government is scheduled for October 18-19.

Given that the BJP is the largest party within the grand coalition government, sources indicate that a substantial share of the ministerial posts will be allotted to the party. Additionally, it is expected that both the Shinde and Ajit Pawar groups will secure roles in the cabinet. This allocation formula is projected to extend to positions within the corporation as well.

The Shinde-Fadnavis government was established in the state after Eknath Shinde’s rebellion. Eknath Shinde assumed the role of Chief Minister, with Devendra Fadnavis as Deputy Chief Minister. Subsequently, the swearing-in ceremony saw nine ministers from each of the first two parties taking their oaths.

The first cabinet expansion prompted disappointment within the Shinde group, as they were left without ministerial opportunities. Many had hoped for a chance during the second expansion, only to have those hopes dashed by the entry of Ajit Pawar into the government. In the second extension, Ajit Pawar, along with nine NCP ministers, took their oaths of office.

Now, all eyes are on the upcoming third cabinet expansion. Shinde group MLAs like Bharat Gogawle and Sanjay Shirsat are pressing for ministerial posts, while several BJP MLAs are also eager for ministerial positions. The stage is set for an intriguing decision on who will be appointed as ministers in this pivotal cabinet expansion.
